Women's and Children's Free Restaurant

Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant began in 1988 as a typical “soup kitchen”.  Over the last 25 years, they have grown into a full-scale restuarant serving close to 40,000 nutritious meals last year.  They serve as a vital safety net to fill nutitional gaps for women and children in need while fostering dignity and respect, both within their restaurant and in the community.  This includes their on-site restaurant and "Nutrition to Go" meals to partner agencies.

WCFR services to women & children include:
  • In- house nutritious restaurant style meals on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 3-6 pm. and Friday afternoons from 11:30-1:30 pm
  • “Fresh Market” on Tuesdays where women choose from fresh and stable items to make healthy meals at home.
  • Provide "Nutrition to Go" meals to Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Hope House, St Margaret's Shelter and other agencies throughout the week.
The Souperbowl Snowshoe and Cross Country Ski event has raised more than $83,500 over the past 8 years for the Women's and Children's Free Restaurant!! Your donation of $30 – 50 helps pay for fresh fruit, vegetables & meat, and your donation of $75+ helps feed a woman or child for a month!  Thank you to everyone who supports our event!
